Movandi collaborates with Qualcomm to increase mobile network operators’ flexibility in deploying 5G mmWave networks
On February 28-March 3, Mobile World Congress Barcelona took place in person. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most important events of the year for the entire mobile industry. To showcase the progress we’ve made this year, we launched new partnerships to expand 5G mmWave adoption at at #MWC22.
Movandi and Qualcomm announced their commitment to expand 5G mmWave deployments for indoor and outdoor scenarios. Both companies are strong proponents of 5G mmWave, and the combination of mmWave small cells powered by Qualcomm® FSM™ 5G RAN Platforms and Movandi-powered 5G smart repeaters will entail expanded 5G mmWave adoption and an increased flexibility in operator deployments.
Movandi powered smart repeaters and technology solve the difficult 5G engineering and economic challenges by speeding up 5G mmWave deployment, extending range, enhancing coverage, penetrating physical barriers in indoor, outdoor and mobile environments, and accelerating large-scale 5G commercialization by significantly reducing capital investment and operating expenses. These new next-gen flexible smart repeaters powered by Movandi’s innovative core 5G technology from chipsets to phased array antennas and cloud beamforming software solves 5G mmWave deployment challenges with the industry’s best performance and economics and supports mmWave frequencies owned by Verizon, AT&T and other global operators.
During MWC22, we also announced new smart repeater partnerships with WNC, FRTek, and Doosan that are available and shipping today from our partners. These announcements include:
WNC and Movandi Partner to Deliver Innovative Dual-Band 5G mmWave Smart Repeaters. The new WNC single-box dual-band mmWave smart repeaters powered by Movandi are shipping and available today. Movandi chipsets enable affordable and enhanced coverage for enterprise private networks and service provider indoor applications. Wistron NeWeb Corp. (WNC) is using Movandi’s dual-band 28 GHz and 39 GHz BeamXR chipsets.
FRTek Delivers the Industry’s Most Flexible 5G Smart Repeaters. The industry’s first patented fiber cascading FRTek PrimAer smart repeaters powered by Movandi semiconductors and approved by top 5G operators including Verizon. Movandi is providing semiconductors and antenna modules for FRTek PrimAer smart repeaters in the 24/26 GHz (n258), 28 GHz (n257/n261) and 39 GHz (n260) spectrum bands. FRTek PrimAer smart repeaters with patented fiber cascading capabilities are being deployed today with global tier one 5G service providers to deliver unprecedented 5G mmWave coverage.
At Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021, FRTek demonstrated the industry’s first 8K HDR live video streaming from New Jersey to Hawaii using FRTek’s PrimAer 28-GHz smart repeaters.
South Korea’s Doosan Corp announced their entrance in the 5G antenna module business through a technology partnership with Movandi. New modules support all three Korean carriers and frequency bands of U.S./Japanese mobile carriers (Triband) It plans to roll them out within this year. This is a move to advance into overseas markets such as China, Europe and the United States and expand its overseas business.
Commercial Movandi-powered smart repeaters are being deployed today by global 5G operators. During MWC22, Movandi showcased these new partnerships with Qualcomm, WNC, FRTek and Doosan. Contact us today to solve your 5G mmWave deployments.
